I believe that the author of one of the world's best-selling novels Harry Potter is a creative person.

She was born in July 31, 1965, in England. Even though we all know her now as JK Rowling, but her given name at birth was Joanne Kathleen Rowling. She majored in French after her parents encouraged her into what they believed would be a wonderful career as a bilingual secretary. However, after graduating, it didn't take long for her to realize that she wasn't meant to be a secretary. She then became a teacher in English, which she enjoyed, because she could teach in the afternoon and evenings so that she could enjoy writing in the morning.

Unsuprisingly, JK Rowling started writing at a very young age. It was when she was teaching English that she started writing a novel about a "wizard". She got married, had a daughter, followed by divorce. Yet it was this time that made her more determined to finish her novel. After selling her first Harry Potter, she received enough money to give up teaching and write full time; she described this as her happiest moment of her life.

JK Rowling is very passionate about writing. She has practically been writing for all her life yet her love for it has never decreased. But what makes me really think that she's a creative person is her imagination. Think of the world she created in the Harry Potter series; that's not something anyone can do. The names, the characters, the story line, the rules in the magic world, the spells, the school, the creatures, just about everything is facinating. By the amount of copies sold and the languages translated, it is obvious that the gifted JK Rowling is a well-known creative person.

B. What do you think of this performance?

the main idea of the video is to make earth the planetary vehicle to beings of outer space. what was supposed to be a pleasant trip from the beautiful natural environment of earth turned out to be quite scary and uncomfortable due to our ignorance to global warming. the lines used in the video is quite ironic: seat cushions turning to floating devices and no emergency exits to the disaster that is about to come. i think this is a successful video. it combined music and irony to transmit its message simple and right to the point.

Part II about global citizenship
A. In what ways do you think you are already a global citizen?

well for one thing, i do live on earth. but besides that, i follow the laws and the norms of the society. i try my best to protect the natural environment by not littering, recycling, and trying not to waste the resources of the earth. i tune in to the news to see what's going on on our earth as well as other countries.

B. How can you become a better global citizen?

because of age and status, there are a lot of things that i can't do, but on the other hand, there are still a lot of things that i CAN do. there is only one earth and there are a lot of ways to protect it. aside from the recycling we all know, i can think of ways to reuse things again, this way, i can decrease the amount of garbage. pollution can be stopped too. since the term is "global" citizen, that means that the whole planet is like a country. i can try to understand the culture of other nations so that it will be much easier to get along with foreigners. in the future, when i have the ability, i can try to make the world a better place.

i read the six levels of CEF, and i guess i'm between B2 and C1 in both my listening and reading abilities.

in reading, i may not know the meanings of every word in an article or other reading materials but i can understand the main idea; in terms of listening, while watching movies or listening to broadcasts, i can also understand what the speaker is saying, except for some slangs or and special phrases.
as for my ceep, due to my inability to carry out my former plan, there is a need for me to revise it:

• 1. even though i wasnt able to update my english blog for the past few weeks, but as of now, i will try to follow my former plan.
• 2. reading an english novel thirty minutes a day seems to be impossible so i'll change it three hours a week. maybe every other day or maybe on weekends.
• 3. i haven't started watching the smallville series i mentioned before, but i'll try watching it instead of some TV programs.
• 4. i'll be more specific about getting satisfying grades in english class: i'll preview and review the textbooks used in both english classes and of course, the most important thing is to concentrate in class.
• 5. i'll be using the BBC podcasts to listen while i commute but there are also other fun things on the BBC site <http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/learningenglish/index.shtml> there are news, quizzes, exams and others. Randall's ESL Cyber Listening Lab <http://www.esl-lab.com/> is also a site that must not be ignored. i'll be visiting these web sites at least once a week.

• 1. concentrate and get satisfying grades in english class.
• 2. update my english blog at least three times a week. this can improve my writing skills.
• 3. read an english novel thirty minutes everyday until i finish a novel. as for what novel i will read, i plan to read some classic novels.
• 4. since i commute everyday, i can listen to english broadcasts everyday about 30 minutes. as for now, i listen to BBC's podcasts such as "grammar challenge" and "talk about english".
• 5. prepare for the TOEIC. i may have to first look up how the exam is taken and then i'll have to prepare some materials in order to improve my english, example: buy books about TOEIC, download some
• 6. when watching a movie or an english TV program, try not to look at the subtitles and try listening.
• 7. when listening to english songs, listen carefully to the lyrics or look up its lyrics on the internet.
• 8. there's a TV series someone introduced to me a long time ago, Smallville. it's a story about superman and i'm going to try watching it.
