Through precise assessment, I consider both my English listenig
and reading ability B1(threshold).
This summer vacation I took a studying trip to
New Zealand. Although NZ was a colony of Great British
and uses English which is a little diffrent from American
English as a dominant language, I could still conversate
with Kiwis(people live in NZ). My biggest problem in
listening is that I can't understand what thay are
talking about when they speak quickly.

Sometimes I went shopping myself after language school,
I always looked around finding some words I didnt know through logos of shops
to prove my vacabulary ability.Moreover, I went to the movies
once a week. It really worked to enhance my listening
ability.The more I learned, the less I cant understand
both in reading and listening. Accordingly, I regard
my English ability both in reading and listening B1.

My English level in CEF is between about A1 to A2.

• 1. Special goal：

I want to pass GEPT 中高級 in 2008. And I will also study 5 English novels in this semester.

• 2. Specific actions to achieve that goal：

I will study Newsweek for 40 minutes everyday，and every weekend I will spend one and half hours to read the English novels that I interesting in.（So far I have Harry Potter and Charlotte's Web，so I think I will start on these two books.）

• 3. Keeping track and evaluation

This week I thought I haven't get Newsweek yet, I have go to this website http://www.imdb.com/ to learn some English that I am interest.

After having a good look at the CEF, I clearly though about my English ability. In Reading, I think I'm at level B2 or C1. In Listening/Speaking, maybe I'm at level B2. But I think my listening ability is better than speaking, maybe it is because i am lack in confidence.

Specific goal:

I would like to speak English fluently without having to think about what i am about to say before speaking. Another goal I would like to add is for myself to be more serious in accomplishing my goals.

Specific Actions:

How i am going to achieve this goal is to

• 1. by following this class, i believe my English ability will improve very soon
• 2. listen to English songs and follow the lyrics
• 3. clear out more time to follow my plans

I haven't really followed any of the plans because i have been busy doing some other activities. I haven't made much changes in my goal and actions because I am not sure if I can accomplish them. Well...I believe if I am more diligent, I will soon achieve my goals.

listening:i spend more than a hour every night listening to the STUDIO CLASSROOM on the radio(22: 30勞工教育電台FM91.3).If i keep working on it,i guess my english ability will be improved!!

reading:Now i am trying to form a habit of reading english newspaper everymorning,thought it's really hard for me...I regard it as a challenge which can inspire my ambition and comquer the difficulties .In addition,i've started to read the novel which i haven't finished during summer vacation.That's really a great breakthrough!!

After taking a close look at Common European Framework (CEF), I think I stand in both B1 in listening and reading. I think English is an interesting and useful langrage. I often listened to the ICRT with my daddy at night, and I always read an English magazine at breakfast time before I live in the dormitory. And now I will make some changes in my approaches to learning English.

l Listening

• 1. make good use of the Advanced Website (http://www.studioclassroom.com.tw/ad/index.php)
• 2. listen to the ICRT before bed

l Speaking

• 1. spend 30 minutes to 1 hour a day to practice speaking English in the room with my room-mates

well, after taking a close look at CEF, I suppose my English ability
lies in between B1 and B2.

2. speak fluently with native English speakers
able to convey my ideas to others in english directly, clearly, with
no possibilities of somebody's getting me wrong.
not only capable of reading economics textbooks fast but also, writing
flowing sentences and expressing crystal clear points of view in this
field.

3. every day, I spend 30 mins to 2 hr reading English articles and magazines.
also, I'm planning to read vast book reviews posted on amazon.com.
Due mainly to my interest in books( nonfiction mostly), I find this a
great way to learn English. incidentally, the stars evaluated by other
readers actually decides me whether to buy the books indirectly.
I'm planning to study abroad through the help of EF on this winter vacation.
I'll pay more attention to what professor has to say!

4. I just have to stick to this enhancement plan. not giving up, I
think making big progress in English isn't too big a deal.

After checking the CEF, I guess my listening is A2, and my reading is B1.
It's hard to decided which level am I, because I don't know weather writing & speaking are including in this standard.

However, my plan & my goal to English aren't changed.

• 1.Keep daily studying on English. Maybe the lyric of sings, a news, or anything tiny but interesting.
• 2.Always use the original edition of my college textbook.
• 3.Follow the step of the class, head in homework on time.

Keep doing something & it'll become something big.

Actually, it's hard to decide which level I am in only through the statements offered on the website.

After I checked the CEF,I guessed I am in B2 between C1,but I haven't speak English regularly for a lone time.And I am afraid that the feeling of speaking English might has gone away from me.(I am really worried about it seriously>_<)

To find the feeling of speaking English back,I think I should use some useful tips again...

WAIT!! I heard there are many people are asking me what are those useful tips??

well...I am not going to talk about it ( people yelling: guilty!! guilty!! ) at first, but now I am here and I want to deliver you guys some useful skills .

• 1.Speak English as loud as you can when you are practising, and don't hold an egg in your mouth.WHY?? If the voice you spoke is too small to be heard, then the one who is communicating with you would think"" it is because your English is very poor,so you are afraid of speak out loud??" so SAY OUT LOUD PLEASE
• 2.Speak English as often as you can(don't tell me that you don't have a friend speak English,at least you can NAG to yourself !!) ,for example when you are taking shower ...something like this(use your imagination XD)
  
• 3.Watch more English TV program ,I mean : if there's a opportunity to choose version,try English version in the first time,do not give up yourself at the beginning.

By taking a look at Common European Framework (CEF), I think I stand in both B1 in listening and reading. While English is not a difficult language to me, I still have a lot to improve! This week, I do follow some English enhancement plans which I had made. Let's take a close look^ ^

•Listening
I listend to the "advanced (http://www.studioclassroom.com.tw/ad/index.php)" on the radio and watched CNN on TV for about a hour a day. Meanwhile, I made a vocabulary list from the magazine to support my learning.

•Speaking
I talked to some foreign teachers at my English cram school this week. Although the conversations seemed general, it do help me in my speaking ability. I will practice more... and I hope that my accent will be more accurately!

•Reading
In addition to the "New York Times(http://www.nytsyn.com/)", I also skimmed over other foreign websites... such as CNN(http://www.cnn.com/), BBC(http://www.bbc.co.uk/), and Washington Post(http://www.washingtonpost.com/)

•Writing
I haven't written any essay yet... but, I updated my English blog on schedule. To enhance my English writing ability, I think I should also work on my textbook (Reading for the Real World 3 & Summit 1).

Writing is always the weakness part in my English learning. I will truly follow my enhancement plan and looking forward to my fruitful results!

i read the six levels of CEF, and i guess i'm between B2 and C1 in both my listening and reading abilities.

in reading, i may not know the meanings of every word in an article or other reading materials but i can understand the main idea; in terms of listening, while watching movies or listening to broadcasts, i can also understand what the speaker is saying, except for some slangs or and special phrases.
as for my ceep, due to my inability to carry out my former plan, there is a need for me to revise it:

• 1. even though i wasnt able to update my english blog for the past few weeks, but as of now, i will try to follow my former plan.
• 2. reading an english novel thirty minutes a day seems to be impossible so i'll change it three hours a week. maybe every other day or maybe on weekends.
• 3. i haven't started watching the smallville series i mentioned before, but i'll try watching it instead of some TV programs.
• 4. i'll be more specific about getting satisfying grades in english class: i'll preview and review the textbooks used in both english classes and of course, the most important thing is to concentrate in class.
• 5. i'll be using the BBC podcasts to listen while i commute but there are also other fun things on the BBC site <http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/learningenglish/index.shtml> there are news, quizzes, exams and others. Randall's ESL Cyber Listening Lab <http://www.esl-lab.com/> is also a site that must not be ignored. i'll be visiting these web sites at least once a week.

From the assessment of the Common European Framework(CEF), I think I stand on level B2 in both listening and reading.

1. Listening:
I think basically I'll keep with my original plan, except that the time for news websites might needed to be cut down. Below are my goals:

• (1) Listen to Advanced Studio classroom every day.
• (2) Visit Youtube (www.youtube.com) whenever I have spare time.
• (3) Visit news broadcasting sites such as CNN(www.cnn.com), BBC (http://www.bbc.co.uk/?ok) on weekends. About half an hour per day.

2. Reading:

• (1) Read TIME magazine everyday whenever I have the opportunity to. Such as during breaks between classes or spare time.
• (2) Read Advanced magazine everyday.

3. Class:

• (1) Update my blog regularly, about 2 times a week.
• (2) Do my best to talk in English when discussing with my team members or classmates.
• (3) Review the textbook before class.

My English Level In CEF-u1587-team IF
There are three different part in the CEF level-Understanding,Speaking,and writing,and there are another two parts in understanding and speaking.

After checking my English level,I think my listening and reading level are between B2-C1.
Though I cannot understand every vocab in news report, I can still understand the main ideal of the report,so I think my understanding part is between B2-C1,but close to B2. For the speaking part,I think my level is between B1-B2.

After I graduated from elementary school,the opportunity of communicating to foreigners had been decreasing, because my English teacher are foreigners.the last part is writing ability.
I think my English writing ability is the worse part in my English learning, because I can barely remember or understand the tence and grammar which I am using, so I think my level to the writing is B1-B2, and closely to B1!

Revise My Specific Goal

• 1.Reading English novel that I can improve my reading ability.
• 2.Listen to CNN and ICRT to improve my listening ability.
• 3.Learn at least 500 new vocab.

After take a look on the definition of each level , I state myself at B1. The reason why I state myself at B1 is that I went to Australia for three weeks. During the time . I lived in home stay . dealing with all the problems that I met . I think I can handle most situation in simple English .

Specific Goal:

I want to pass the English mid-high level examination next year!!

Action Plan:

• 1. Follow the foot step of my English class , and finish all the homework after class .
• 2. Listen Randal's ESL Cyber Listening everyday.
• 3. Renew my blog at least once a week , share those experience and mood in English.
• 4. Participate in the study plan which my English teacher advised.
• 5. Remember at least 400 voc. in a semester.
• 6. Keep reading English magazine like landmark 30 minute a day.

I have taken a close look at Common European Framework (CEF). And I think I'm in the level of B1 to B2 in both listening and reading ability. Because I'm not good at recognizing words and sentences. Every time I'm reading or listening an article, I just know what it wants to say, but not know what it talks about.

Thus, I should make out my time practicing my English skill.
First, I would listen to ICRT to improve my listening skill. However, it will depend on when I'm free. Not including the routine exercise once a week. (The routine exercise is almost in the weekend.)

Second, I would read some news through the Internet to strengthen my reading skill. It can be done every day, well, I mean, only if I'm not busy. But as usual, I will do it once a week at least.
Third, I would find time to test myself through the Internet as well (http://www.esl-lab.com/). It would be necessary to know how much my progress is.

I hope after a year, I will be able to understand every sentence and every word without dictionary and teacher's assistance.

• 1.Watch the movies in English subtitle.
• 2.Try to call in the ICRT radio station to practice my English speaking.
• 3.Do more English reading.

These are the ways to improve my English.I hope that during the college,my English can speak as fluently as Americans.I also hope that I can finish the GEPT high-level and the TOEFL test.Because I plan to study the graduate school abroad,so I need to make my English much better than before.I believe I can do it if I try really hard.
